Tiger Woods is behaving as one might expect, which is to say like someone who’s never before endured serious public criticism. He’s canceled yet again a meeting with the police, hired an attorney, and issued a statement saying:
This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.
Let’s follow the logic here. If it’s “embarrasing,” happened because he is “human” and not “perfect,” and it’s possible for him to ensure it “doesn’t happen again,” then it was not a “coulda happened to anybody” random accident. It sounds like he did something wrong, if only get behind the wheel of his car in a purple rage. People will want to know what that something is.
Restoring his reputation will require a meeting with either the police or Oprah. C’mon, Tiger, don’t make me invoke Gus Grissom. (Via Drudge.)
