Ed Morrissey has the latest on the machinations regarding challenges to Obambi’s status as a "natural born citizen" and therefore his eligibility to be president.
My understanding is that there are two efforts to deny him the presidency. The first says that he is not a "natural born citizen" because his father was a British subject. That effort is nonsense.
The second effort is based on the premise that Obambi was born not in Hawaii, but outside the United States. This premise is extraordinarily unlikely. A court should be able to dispose of it quickly by independently examining the birth certificate (so far only Hawaii state officials have done so) and considering other evidence and testimony if necessary. But I understand this effort was derailed by a court which ruled the plaintiff lacked standing. That ruling is nonsense. An election is more than a contest between candidates. Every citizen of the United States is subject to the executive actions of an elected president and to the laws he signs. Each of us has standing.
Tens of millons of people voted for Obambi, but they don’t have the power to amend our Constitution en passant.
